Terms of Use
The messages boards found throughout LivingInMercerCounty.com are for everyone to use and enjoy. We have created a variety of topics for discussion that we believe will benefit everyone. Please email us with any suggestions you have for additional topics.
Currently the forums do not use a registration system. However we do have rules that everyone must follow in order for this system to benefit everyone. These rules are designed so that the forums stay constructive and informative. THESE FORUMS ARE MODERATED TO ENSURE THAT EVERYONE COMPLIES WITH THE RULES.
1) There is absolutely no profanity allowed. Any messages containing profanity will be promptly deleted.
2) Rules specific to the "who to use" and "things to do/places to go" forums: These sections are ONLY to be used for positive reviews. It is meant for users to share their positive experiences with a business or professional for others to benefit from. It is NOT to be used to provide negative reviews of anyone. The reason is simple: As previously mentioned, we are not using a user ID and password system. It would become too easy for a business to put down their competitors by posting messages here and spreading rumors. For this reason, if you would like to share your negative experiences with others, simply type a message providing your email address for others to contact you. This is the only fair method to keep the forums as a useful reference guide.
3) There is to be no "bashing" of any individual simply because you do not agree with their post or their viewpoint. We will delete any of these types of messages at our discretion. Constructive criticism is always welcome if it can serve to provide useful information and if it can be backed up by facts.
The reason for this rule is simply that we have seen many message boards be overwhelmed with negative opinions that don't really serve a purpose. This especially can become evident when people are allowed to post as anonymous. It also discourages others from posting because they feel that message boards are simply one big bashing session. We want to keep these forums informative for all, where everyone feels welcome to share their thoughts and ideas.
4) Respect for each other is required. Everyone has different opinions on matters. What we don't want is people attacking others for their opinions. If you disagree with something, state your reasons. Don't just say that another person is ridiculous, or call them other names/descriptions. Again, we have seen other message boards where every poster is automatically put down by others for their opinion. This makes people not want to express their opinion and renders the message boards useless. Any messages which show a lack of respect for another poster will be deleted.
5) A simple rule, and a bit elementary, but one that must be stated: No Name Calling
6) There is to be absolutely no segregation or classification of people by way of sex, race, ethnicity or religion, in a negative way or for negative reasons.
7) Please be aware of the different sections of this website so that you can be sure you are posting your message in the proper spot. We will, from time to time, move the thread so that it is contained in the proper place. This is simply to keep things organized as the website grows.
8) The messages posted by users of this website do not in any way constitute the opinion of the website operators. We can not be held responsible for any reliance on these messages, or any offense taken by its content. We do not attempt to verify any of the information contained within these forums.
At our discretion, if there is any message that does not correspond to the above rules, we will either delete the message entirely, or edit the message to remove the offensive phrase(s). If a message thread turns into a bashing session and no longer serves a beneficial purpose, it will be closed.
Users are encouraged to call our attention to violations of these rules by sending us an email through the contact us link.
Please realize that the purpose of these rules is to ensure that this website can become a valuable tool for everyone to use. We welcome everyone's comments and suggestions by email. Thank you and we hope you enjoy the website.
